New Jersey online casino revenue approach brick-and-mortar

In the latest casino revenue report issued in the state of New Jersey for the month of April revenue from online casino gaming is inching closer to revenue from brick-and-mortar casino.
In April brick-and-mortar casinos in New Jersey reported $216.8 million in revenue. The revenue from online casino revenue during the same month was $187.9 million. That’s a difference of just 28.9 million.
Online casino gaming revenue has seen tremendous growth in New Jersey since it was launched. In April, 2024 the reported $216.8 million in revenue was a 18.2 percent increase when comparted to revenues in April 2023. Revenues were also up when compared to March, 2024, when online gaming revenues came in at $197.2 million. So far this year online gaming revenues were $750.7 million, which is a 21.1 percent increase on the $620.1 million reported for the same period in 2023.
While online gaming revenues are increasing, revenues at brick-and-mortar casinos were heading in the opposite direction. In April, 2024 live casino reported revenue of $216.8 million was down 6.3 percent when compared to the $231.5 million in revenue reported in April, 2023. For the year so far live gambling revenues were down 1.6 percent from $886.8 million reported in 2023 to the $872.9 million reported in 2024.
If these trends continue with online gaming revenues continuing to climb and live gaming revenues declining or even remaining flat, monthly online gaming revenue could surpass live gaming revenue in the near future.
