A prolonged 2025 tourism slump in Las Vegas continued in the month of September.

According to a report by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority visits to Las Vegas were down 8.8 percent in September 2025 when compared to September 2024. Just over 3 million people visited Las Vegas in September but that was down 300,000 from the year prior.

Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport also reported a drop in passengers flying in. In September 2025 4.45 million passengers flew into the airport. That was a 6.4 percent decline from passenger numbers from 2024.

Not surprisingly, with visitor numbers down, hotel occupancy also saw a decline. Hotel occupancy was at 78.7 percent, a five percent drop from 2024. The Las Vegas Strip had a 5.7 percent decline in hotel occupancy. The decline in hotel stays led to a drop in the average daily hotel room rate, which saw a near three percent drop.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported gaming revenue on the Strip was also down year-over-year in September. Revenue for September 2025 was $687.81 million, a decline of 5.5 percent when compared to 2024. Revenue from sports betting took a major hit, down nearly 40 precent year-over-year.

One bright spot on the gaming revenue report was that revenues were up slightly when compared to August. In August gaming revenue was $679 million. The $687 million reported in September was a slim $8 million, or a 1.1 percent increase.
