Ballys releases Ozarks casino renderings ahead of election day vote

The Bally’s Corporation has released casino resort renderings for their potential Lake of the Ozarks location in Missouri. The renderings were released just over a month before voters will go the polls in November to determine if Amendment 5 will pass and allow the construction of the new casino resort.
Bally’s and Osage River Gaming & Convention presented the casino resort renderings and plan to the City of Lake Ozark Board of Alderman earlier this week. The renderings showed a 20-story hotel tower and a large convention center and parking areas next to Highway 54 just south of the Osage River.
Whether or not these renderings and plans become reality will be decided on election day on November 5. On the ballot is Amendment 5 which if passed would allow gambling expansion to increase the number of commercial casinos from 13 to 14 and the building of a new casino resort. The new proposed casino is land-based but would satisfy the state’s riverboat gaming laws by being located within 1,000 feet of the Osage River.
To get the casino amendment on the election ballot Osage River Gaming & Convention collected over 320,000 signatures in support of the new casino. Originally the state said the casino campaign failed to submit enough signatures to get on the ballot. However, after a lawsuit was filed by Osage River Gaming & Convention contesting the result it was found that clerical errors resulted in overlooked signatures on the petition.
The casino question isn’t the only gambling-related amendment on the November 6 ballot. Missouri voters will also decide if the state should allow in-person and online sports betting. Under the amendment retail and online sportsbook licenses would be available to Missouri casinos and professional sports stadiums.
