The federal case in Alabama against gambling moguls, which generated nationwide interest, ended on Thursday, with the nine defendants walking out of court with no charges against them – for the moment. After two long months, the jury couldn’t find enough evidence to put the nine behind bars and they left with no conviction.

The case was the culmination of a long and tiring battle for and against the legalization of electronic bingo in the state. The FBI were approached by three legislators who said that they had been offered bribe money by gambling interests in exchange for their vote to legalize electronic bingo in Alabama. Three people were arrested in this first wave: Ronnie Gilley, a casino developer, and two lobbyists – Jarrod Massey and Jennifer Pouncy. All pleaded guilty to conspiracy.

The second wave of arrests pleased the Fed even more as they were considered bigger ‘fish’. Milton McGregor, the owner of Victoryland casino, his chief lobbyist Bob Geddie Jnr., three other lobbyists and four senators, including Quinton Ross of Montgomery, were issued with arrest warrants after the FBI managed to record over ten thousand phone calls between gambling interests and politicians.

Several days after the arrests were made, proposed bingo legislation conveniently disappeared from the House.

After six days of deliberation, the jury finally made its decision. Geddie and Ross were acquitted of all charges, and the other defendants acquitted of most charged. Some of the counts still remain unresolved by the jury and the judge said that a retrial would be set to resolve them.

Milton McGregor had three out of 17 charges against him dropped, with the jury deadlocked on the other 14. It remains to be seen whether the Feds will go all out to get this gambling king in a retrial or whether they will admit defeat.

Don Johnson, dubbed the Beast of Blackjack, after he managed to score $15.1 million from Atlantic City casinos in an amazing five month winning streak, is back at one of the locations to take part in a winner-takes-all tournament.

Johnson will play in a $100,000 tourney at the Tropicana Casino and Resort on September 2nd and 3rd and the casino is hoping to get back at least some of the $6 million that the high stakes player won off them. Johnson doesn’t mind the casino capitalizing on his fame and has only asked that $10,000 from the event be donated to the JBJ Soul Foundation, headed by his pal, Jon Bon Jovi.

Johnson tried to remain anonymous but once he managed to cream the casinos out of so much cash, the press revealed his identity and he finally consented to two exclusive interviews.

Johnson won $5.8 million in a 12 hour blackjack spree at the Tropicana in April this year. In December last year, he hauled off $4.2 million from the Caesars Atlantic City, and ,over three separate months, won $5 million in total at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.

Johnson was personally invited back to the Tropicana by Carl Icahn, the billionaire investor who paid $200 million for the resort last year.

However, despite its losses to Johnson, the Tropicana is not going to get rid of its high stakes table games which have become a feature since Icahn’s investment.

“We’re not afraid of the action. We’re not going to shy away from it,” said the casino’s CEO, Tony Rodio.

A new group, whose sole objective is to lobby for legal online poker and gambling in the United States, has been launched in the country. FairPlayUSA aims to clarify the ambivalent and controversial gambling laws in the United States, not least of all the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.

Senator Raymond J. Lesniak, the New Jersey lawmaker who is co-sponsor of proposed internet gambling legislation in the state, has written a letter to the Department of Justice, warning the DOJ to keep its hands off New Jersey’s legislation, saying that the state is within its rights to introduce intrastate gambling if it so chooses to.

“The State of New Jersey should not be impeded in any manner from exercising our rights under our state constitution and under federal law,” wrote Lesniak to the US Attorney-General, Eric Holder.

The letter was in response to a letter sent by Senators Harry Reid and Jon Kyl to Holder last week, which called for the federal government to crack down on states’ efforts to pass intrastate gambling legislation. In early 2011, New Jersey’s legislature voted to allow Atlantic City casinos to offer intrastate gambling services. The governor vetoed the bill under its present form, but has indicated several times that he wants to see New Jersey become the first state to introduce intrastate online gambling. As such, a new bill is due to be introduced later this year.

“Under existing federal law, there’s simply no basis to deny New Jersey or any other state from establishing and regulating intrastate online gambling, and in fact, such operations are expressly exempted under the 2006 law on unlawful Internet gambling,” wrote Lesniak. “New Jersey should be allowed to pursue online gaming, so long as we conform to the provisions set forth in the 2006 law, because it will be a boon to our economy and will help modernize our gaming product.”

It is expected that legalized online gambling would bring in over $100 million in net revenues for the state’s casinos, and create hundreds of new, high paying jobs.

“This is the sort of jump start that Atlantic City’s ailing gaming economy needs, and would position New Jersey at the forefront of what will be the future of gaming in this country and the world,” he wrote. “New Jersey should decide for itself whether it wants to move its 20th century casinos into the 21st century, and the federal government shouldn’t try to stand in our way.”

Pretty much all online casinos have a VIP Program, but Millionaire Casino is often considered one of the best programs, if not thee best, out there today. Below will outline their VIP Plan program and what sets them apart from the other online casino sites.

Millionaire Casino VIP Plan offers points earned from playing the various games offered which can be redeemed in the casino for cash, prizes and current sweepstakes.

As listed on their website, they offer several different levels, Amber, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Diamond is the most elite lever in the program and offers the best rewards once a player achieves that level.

Points are awarded through the various games offered by the online casino site. The four main games offered are Blackjack, Slots, Video Poker, and Table Games. The more difficult the game, the more points awarded. Example, Blackjack has a higher winning percentage per single game than say Slots do, so therefore you would earn more points playing Slots than Blackjack.

Also to note, as you move up each level not only do you receive more Rewards Point per bet but you will also receive higher bonuses. Below will outline this in more detail for better understanding:

The arrest by United States authorities of Australian national Daniel Tzvetkoff on money laundering charges has seen the one-time high-flying payment processor released on bail, pending a trial to be scheduled in New York at a later date. Tzvetkoff’s arrest followed a tip-off to federal authorities that he was attending an online-transactions in Las Vegas, which the former boss of online processor Intabill sought to rebuild a financial empire that came crashing down in 2009.

Tzvetkoff’s Intabill operation, according to the US complaint, was responsible in transferring roughly $540 million in transfers and deposits between US customers and selected US online casino sites. Tzvetkoff, however, was accused by the site’s themselves of absconding with more than $80 million in funds earmarked for payments to customers, funds which were repaid through other means by the sites themselves. Tzvetkoff lived a lavish lifestyle and flaunted his newfound wealth, though Intabill’s meteoric rise to and fall from prominence spanned scarcely more than a year.

Tzvetkoff’s arrest was lauded by US feds as being the first obtained under auspices under the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), setting the stage for that law’s first legal test when Tzvetkoff’s trial begins. Federal authorities tried to have Tzvetkoff’s bail revoked on the grounds that Tzvetkoff posed a flight risk, though his family pledged his $1.2 million home in Brisbane, Australia for his release. Nonetheless, US immigration authorities filed an extra detainment motion against Tzvetkoff, leaving him behind bars until that matter is resolved. Even when released, Tzvetkoff will have surrendered his passport and be subject to constant electronic monitoring as he awaits his trial.

The ABA’s Kenneally commented on the likely effects of the UIGEA, which is scheduled to go into full effect on June 1, 2010, after a moratorium on a waiting period for banks to achieve compliance with the law expires.

American Bankers Association vice president Steve Kenneally reiterated the United States’ banking industry’s position regarding the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) as part of a position paper issued by the Washington-based Medill News Service this past week. The ABA’s Kenneally commented on the likely effects of the UIGEA, which is scheduled to go into full effect on June 1, 2010, after a moratorium on a waiting period for banks to achieve compliance with the law expires.

In the piece, Kenneally reiterated many of the positions taken by the AGA when the rules for the UIGEA were being clarified for implementation, namely that the UIGEA will not prevent online transactions from occurring, but will nonetheless result in an increased workload for the United States’ already overworked banking system. The vague nature of the UIGEA’s regulations will raise additional enforcement problems for banks, and Kenneally noted that despite the act’s intent, customers will still be able to write paper checks or conduct electronic wires of funds, payment avenues that remain open despite UIGEA restrictions upon other payment channels.

Kenneally noted that banks’ efforts will likely be focused on preventing unlawful debit- and credit-card transactions, despite those methods already being the most regulated within America’s banking system.

CyberArts currently only offers its services to European markets such as France and Italy, however the company is locally based to ensure that at the time of a change in US gambling regulations, it will be well positioned to grab a significant part of the market. As such, Intralot sees the purchase of a section of CyberArts as a lucrative deal.

Intralot is already fairly well positioned in the US market through the provision of gaming services and infrastructure to the Arkansas state lottery. However, the deal with CyberArts will provide the group with many more options in the long run.

Intralot, which trades on the Athens Stock Exchange, is considered the biggest provider of gambling services to Greece, and the second largest company in the world, with annual revenues of over $1 billion. Intralot specializes in the marketing and operation of lottery, sports betting and internet gambling in over fifty countries around the world.

If and when gambling regulations change in the United States, and the controversial UIGEA is finally laid to rest, Intralot, through its deal with CyberArts will be one step ahead of the competition.

In a move that many feel is akin to online gambling, a Las Vegas bricks and mortar casino will allow its customers to wager on sports without having to physically make their way to the sportsbettors in Vegas.

Using a handheld device, players at the M Resort will be able to perform in-game sports betting which essentially allows them to add new bets or change existing ones as the game progresses.

In addition, players will be able to enjoy quality casino games such as blackjack and baccarat from these units.

The device, known as an EDeck, and developed by Cantor Gaming, allows players to use an account to gamble with throughout the casino, without the need for them to make their way to the games on the casino floor.

Sunny Tara, speaking for Cantor Gaming said: “The portable devices are sophisticated, but they really are just tools to access the real technology, which sits on the servers.”

The new EDecks are as close to online gambling as US regulation will allow in Las Vegas at present.

The M Resort and Spa Casino boasts 92,000 square feet of gaming opportunities, including nearly 2000 slots and video poker machines, 65 gaming tables and lots more.

Players who are familiar with wagering online through their cell phones will find that the new EDeck devices are employed in practically the same way, providing endless gaming opportunities.
